This year, Springfest lives up to its name, becoming a month long festival, August 8 to September 10. Every person, every family in our community is able and invited to participate in the celebration. Spring is the season of love, and this springtime, our MIC Community gets to express our love, appreciation and gratitude for the incredibly dedicated teaching staff who guide our children daily.(Why wait for International Teachers’ Day? – let’s give them a month!)
LOVE: Each school day from Monday August 8, one child in each class is invited to write a simple love/appreciation/gratitude note and slip it quietly to their favourite teacher (guide or assistant), perhaps with an apple, a hug or a flower. Parents/siblings feel free to add your own words – and hugs.
GIVE: Any day from Monday August 8 until 6pm Saturday September 10 (before the party starts) each family is invited to contribute towards a significant gift for each classroom, granting a substantial wish chosen by the teaching staff themselves. We are expecting to raise $500 or more for each class. We want to gift them with exactly what will most enhance the teaching/learning experience in their classrooms. 100% of crowdfunding donations will go directly to the classrooms and teaching staff to purchase their pre-approved requests. Know that your contribution to our precious school’s dedicated teaching staff will make a tangible difference, immediately. There will be lots of crowdfunding perks, ranging from natural class group photos to red carpet photos. A limited number of opportunities exist for businesses to partner the community with larger contributions. If your business is interested in getting on board early to maximise exposure, please contact Jessika Miller via email@example.com.
DANCE: Weekly Bollywood Dance classes for everybody in school – parents, children and staff – all together. We know not everybody can get to
the big party night, so we are bringing the best part of it out into the community – Friday afternoons, 3:30-4:30, on campus. Wiggle and giggle. Laugh and learn. Dress up or come as you are.
PARTY: Finally, our beloved teaching staff will be guests of honour when the festival concludes with a big night out for the grownups on September 10. At this event we will present the gifts we have contributed to over the previous weeks. We celebrate our wonderful school community, taking the time to talk and laugh and enjoy each other’s company, The Philharmonic (Primary Roundhouse) Building will be transformed into a brilliant kaleidoscope of textured colour and light for a Bollywood Brights party. With a huge dance floor at the centre, there will be plenty of music and dancing, as well as Indian Street Food and a G&T bar. Wear your brightest colours – or go crazy with a costume.
This festival format for our annual community celebration aims to be fun, accessible and inclusive for every single person in the school.
We hope to see you smiling and hugging your teacher soon!
